Tara’s first experience with the Bible in her language was with the book of Job. Up to that point, her life had been so difficult, she said, “It felt like I had written it. It felt like they were my words. I had lost everything.”
Islam had taught her that she could only pray memorized prayers, with Arabic words she didn’t understand, to a God who wanted to punish her. But when she prayed to receive Jesus, she said, “I felt so light. Every burden was gone. Before, I didn’t know how to pray to God. I didn’t know that I could just share my heart with him like a friend.”
Tara and her husband joined our Persian partners’ Open Bible Stories translation team, and two of her nieces came to Christ during the community check. Despite the danger they face for becoming Christians, Tara and her husband have shared their faith with over 70 friends and family members.
